Jocelyn Meli Therapy
Specialist Trauma Therapy & Psychotherapeutic Counselling
About me

My passion for personal growth and psychotherapy began in my early twenties, and it has fuelled my life in so many ways, both personally and professionally. I am also passionate about trauma. It is a fascinating subject, that is so often deeply misunderstood.
I'm 54-years of age, originally from London, and now live in the countryside working online internationally and locally in person.
I bring together three strands of expertise:
Professional Work
My private practice as a therapist begun in 2019.
In 2019 I also initiated, coordinated, and was the lead counsellor, of a small counselling service in the Highlands of Scotland, until 2023.
My 20 year professional career prior to being a therapist included working within specialist mental health services and rehabilitation projects. I have worked as a senior practitioner, a client case leader, and a team and service manager with adults in a support capacity. This has provided comprehensive experience in client-centred work, helping people who are struggling and facing life crises to make positive and empowering changes in their lives, and increase their well-being.

Personal experience of childhood trauma
I have experienced first hand the suffering and darkness of trauma. I was fully into adulthood before I realised that I was suffering from Complex Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. This realisation was a revelation and the beginning of my recovery and healing. I went through my trauma journey mostly alone and it was immensely painful. However, this direct meeting with trauma taught me so much and now my job is show people that trauma can be safely processed and healed without such pain and suffering. Through evidence-based techniques, a holistic approach, compassion and with a skilful therapist who understands the intricacies of trauma, healing and recovery is possible. Trauma can, in fact, be a beautiful journey of self-discovery.
''Turn your wounds into wisdom'. -Oprah Winfrey

I also consider myself a spiritual person and my therapeutic practice is influenced by the compassion and skilful means of the practices I have learnt, such as mindfulness, compassion and loving kindness. I have had the good fortune to work with many leading spiritual teachers around the world, whose
wisdom helps to navigate my
therapeutic work.
These are my two dogs, Wallace and Dinky,
and two cats, Frieda and Marbel,
who enjoyed going for a walk together.
Sadly Dinky (the little white dog in the front)
passed away, but she lived to the grand old
age of 20 and led a very free life, full of love.
